#55 - ATHX at Bella Centeret Copenhagen

What exactly is ATHX – how did it start, and where is it heading?
We have Jordan McLaughlin from ATHX in the studio just before ATHX Copenhagen at the Bella Center for a chat about the concept, the competition, and the thinking behind it.
We talk about how ATHX is structured, and why the format needs to be simple, repeatable, and something you can train specifically towards.
We also talk about affiliates and coaches, and the role that regular, everyday training at your local box plays if you want to give ATHX a go.
And then we take a look behind the scenes of the event itself: 40 lanes, around 150 volunteers, judges, and a whole lot of logistics that need to come together when that many people have to make their way through an event in a single weekend.
Jordan also tells us about some of the participants who have made a particular impression – including the older athletes – and what happens to your training when you suddenly have a date in the calendar and a specific goal to work towards.
But this is Gimlis Master Cast, after all, so there is absolutely no chance we stay on topic the entire time.
Naturally, we also manage to go off on a few solid tangents about excessive chocolate consumption, menopause, and, not least, how quickly a perfectly sensible conversation can go completely off the rails when the hosts usually speak Danish – and suddenly have to try to sound both clever and funny in English.
Spoiler: It doesn’t always go entirely according to plan.
Finally, we look ahead: more international events, a return to Copenhagen in 2027, and plans for ATHX simulations where you can try out the format before deciding whether an actual competition is for you.
In short: What is ATHX, who is it for, and how does it actually work?
Plus chocolate, menopause, and some slightly questionable school English.
More or less.
Velkomst, Sprogkaos Og Gæst
SPEAKER_04Du lyder til.
SPEAKER_03Podcastet for alle plus. Der bruger længere tid på at komme ud af stræk, end et misbrug.
SPEAKER_04Vi lover hverken eller rød tråd, men vi lover, at det bliver underholdende.
SPEAKER_03Chris. Our first ever podcast in English?
SPEAKER_04Oh no.
SPEAKER_03My goodness.
SPEAKER_04And we have to practice.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we'll give it a go. We practice as we go along, okay?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, because normally when we do things in English, we are teaching in Danish and English.
SPEAKER_03So it becomes Danglish.
SPEAKER_04But today we'll try to do our best in English. And why are we doing it in English, Ellen?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but that's because we invited Guy from the UK, and basically his English is more poor than ours. So we'll have to maybe do some translation as we go along. But we'll give it a go. So so hopefully most of the Danes and our abroad listeners can follow. It's a special episode.
SPEAKER_04It is?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Whenever we have a guest in the studio, it's a special episode. And in this case, it's because the weekend we have Aethrax in uh Billy Center, Copenhagen. And uh obviously we have one of our allied. But I think uh we will allow him to to pronounce his own name before I ruin it completely, and second name as well, yeah, and do a small introduction of himself. I think that's uh way better. So should we say hello to Jordan?
SPEAKER_00Hold on, the mic is yours. Oh, the mic is all mine. I feel extra special now. Now, before I do introduce myself, I actually would like to hear Alan try and butcher my surname because I'm gonna butcher the English language, so I very much like to hear him try my surname before we get on.
SPEAKER_03I would say it goes like this Jordan McLaughlin.
SPEAKER_00That is very good, yeah. That's very, very good. Oh, yeah, am I close? Yeah, yeah. Jordan McLachlan, yeah. That's exactly spot on, yeah. Yeah, McLoughlin. Yeah, you need the I I mean, most people don't have that, that's just the way I say it, but yeah. So when it comes to that, most people do butch it. The one that I've had that's the funniest, and I think it was at a competition abroad when I had like my signing thing, is that they completely forgot the second L. So I was kind of like I was in super bad. My name was now McLaughlin. I generally felt like I was McLuhan. Uh yeah, so McLaughlin was me the entire weekend, but no McLaughlin, yeah. So so a big part of it. So my name is Jordan McLaughlin. I work for Affix Games, I'm the community manager. I've been here from the very beginning. You'll most likely see me on the comp floor as well as a head judge. I've been that from day one, from wherever Affix began, and I deal with gyms and our lovely affiliates like yourself here at Gimli's Cross, and that's the main purpose for us. I've got a sports background myself, and I think that's what ties in perfect perfectly for Affix in general. And the main thing that goes for me is
Jordan, Accent Og Dommerrollen
SPEAKER_00that works well with Africa's in general, is we're all about community, we're all about personalities, we're all about family on that side. Is that me being a little bit of a cheeky scouser goes a long way, and that's the thing that helps me with deal with gyms across the world.
SPEAKER_03I I don't know, I don't know. If I have met you as the first thing, we might not have signed up.
SPEAKER_00Well, you know what? I I'll let I'll let the rest of the team know that. So it's rough so it's reflected in my bonus.
SPEAKER_04Some some some people just have the perfect face to stay in the background.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's definitely me. That's definitely me. That's why I'm on a podcast right now.
SPEAKER_04The perfect face for radio, that's what we keep saying. Well, so Mc McLachlan.
SPEAKER_00Now you're you're getting wish, you're doing it on purpose now.
SPEAKER_04No, because I just remember we were traveling in the States, and everyone calls Ellen for Ellen. Ellen? Ellen. Ellen, a girl's name. Oh, and then we were at the restaurant, and he said, It's Ellen, and she said, I understand, and she wrote Jesus. So he's Jesus.
SPEAKER_00Don't worry about that. When I went over to Canada, I was at the time competing in powerlifting, it was the world championships. I went over there, and no one could understand the word that I was saying, understandably. But when we went to order food, they would look to my friend who was competing with me for translation. He was from Newcastle, and you're the accent, and they understood him, and I took offense to it. I was like, he's just as bad. So yeah, it's interesting. One on that.
SPEAKER_04Okay, so so how do you say no rep when you're judging? Can people understand that?
SPEAKER_00Oh, they're gonna oh yeah. Yes, good rep, no rapper. They're clear as day, and I make sure. Very visual at my hands as well. Yeah, the physical, that is, yeah, you have to be, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03So but but I wrote here, what is community manager? And you touched it briefly, but but uh we need people to sign up and and affiliate, and and uh we need to broaden Aethrex in in Denmark. So so you have been doing this for for three years now. But can can we dig a little bit deeper? So your your job is to to connect with people and broaden the the name or the sport, it's a little bit of a both.
SPEAKER_00It's one being part of the gyms and being part of what their affiliation is. So, you know, we want to grow with you. You all come from different communities, you all have different members, and even though we're all going from A to B, which is often not the same thing, there's different ways to get to A to B, and that's the whole point of what we want from our affiliation and from our Africa's community, is there's weird
Community Manager Og Affiliates
SPEAKER_00and wonderful ways to get into fitness and stay in fitness, and it might end in the same result, but it'll you know that variety will respond to people differently, and some people want different things, and which is great. So I want to be a part of that, and our whole affiliate team want to be a part of that, and that's just helping you, then showing you what affixes so that you can make it your own in that way, you know, your members, your community best, or maybe what you want from like the gym and the affiliation best. So it's us giving you the tools, what affixes, what it stands for, and then being with you to kind of create that part, for sure.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and and that's where I want to dig a little bit into that as well, because maybe some of the listeners did they they don't know what it exists, yeah, to be honest. And and I always explain it as you know, we are CrossFit affiliate as well, so so they know what affiliation stands for, and and the community uh revolving that. But going a little bit deeper into explaining it, I say CrossFit is in one end, Hyrux is in the other end, and ATICs is kinda in the middle, you know. It's it's a stadium style competition, and and it's something you train for all year, and then you have these large-scale competitions you can attend if you want to. You can also attend for fun, but otherwise you can just attend the classes because it's a nice way of training. So it would in in your words, it's yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um that that is a very way, great way of describing it, really, of like where we sit on the scale of things and the spectrum of fitness competitions. I fully agree with that one with slap bang in the middle, so yeah, we are a streamland stadium style event, like Hyrux, accessible, you know, that kind of thing, and then we are probably more all-round fitness. That's the goal of us to be a fitness test, yeah, like CrossFit, but minus the skill or the levels of skill required on that part, which is the whole purpose of what we what we see it as is as affix. The best way to describe it as a competition, anyway, is yes, we are an event, yes, we are a competition, but we are a fitness test, and to be a fitness test, you need to be simple, repeatable, and scalable. And the whole point of that then is that you know, elite level athletes, you know, eight times CrossFit games winner, Alan over here. Yeah, you know, he's really putting tier two me to shame here. I know we got them Alan Tier. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03You're you're sitting here in our studio and looking at all our trophies. I know, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I can't really move for them. I'm literally having to sit underneath one. That's why we can't film here, there'd be too many reflections. But you know, elite level athletes like you know, obviously Alan, tier two me, Sarah Sigmund's daughter, great company, Chandler Smith, who's competed at a lot of athletics games.
SPEAKER_04I like that you're talking to me, but you're not mentioning me.
SPEAKER_00Well, we're getting to that. Don't worry, we're getting to that, yeah. We're getting to that. So, but then you know, not just functional fitness or crossfit athletes. We've had professional rugby players, we've had professional MMA fighters who've been in the UFC, elite-level sports, but also, you know, everyday athletes, and you know, coming to another part as people's parents or grandparents, like Lena.
SPEAKER_03That's why it's a master podcast.
SPEAKER_04Long weekends, yeah. Just saying.
SPEAKER_00Just to let you know, for anyone who obviously you can't watch this, I'm very much on the other corner of this podcast studio. That's why I'm being very brave and cocky with Lena here. But she also did say some things to me off camera or off mic about my accent, so she's getting it back. But the whole purpose is that it's a level playing field, it's a test that everyone can do. You're on the same thing, and hypothetically, all those groups can get the same score. So you're all the same test in there. That's what it's to be. It's a fitness test amongst the fundamentals of fitness, and we'll change it each year, the workouts stay the same, but it's around those blocks, and that's why you have the strength zone, the endurance, and the metabolic zone. Yeah, so they they will remain, and then we just switch the workouts, but as that fitness test is, you know you can come back to it, and what we mean is as a simple fitness test is no matter where you are in your fitness journey, you can come and do the competition. If you've just started training, you can come and do it, then you know where you are set to then plan your progress. Maybe you are oh, I'll see where I'm at now. You know, this will be set me goals for 12 months time. But maybe you're like someone who sees and 10 years in and you want to see how well you do against the rest of Copenhagen or against the rest of Denmark, and see where you rank in the fitness side there, and everything in between. And a big part of what we've got on there when I say it there's something for everyone, yeah. A big story that we had last year, and I'll give you this one, is we had three elite level crossfitters come and do Athens Glasgow last season. We had BKG, Lucy McGonagall, they both competed, yeah, but we also had Chandler Smith. Now, Chandler Smith, a funny story of how he signed up for it, is no one knew he was coming to do it at first. So he just signed up, he just completely off his own back as a regular dude, and when it came through, he he he signed up, and I think he made it done this on purpose on the 1st of April. Oh, no one believed that it was happening, and then we seen it, you know. I seen on the stories that he done a little bit of the Metcon and then he booked, he was on the plane. He flew the Thursday, slept the Friday, and then competed on the Saturday. And honestly, it was an amazing spectacle, great athletes, absolutely smashed it, it was gorgeous, and we had more and more of these athletes come and show you know the the elite level of fitness, but on the flip side, and maybe my more favourite side of it is we'd done a takeover session, which we'll touch on what they are in a little bit. I done a takeover session at CrossFit Side Incester, who's actually one of our first ever affiliates, and it's a lovely gym in the Cotswolds, a lovely part of the world. I I also need to get a passport to go in there, even though it's in England, you just don't let my accent in there. But went and done two takeovers
Affix Som Simpel Fitness Test
SPEAKER_00there. In the first takeover session, we had two lovely older gentlemen come into it, Anthony and David. At the time, they were 73 and 78 years of age. Absolutely loved the takeover session that they booked onto Affix Cardiff there and then because they knew they could do it and it was for them and they enjoyed it so much. And then they came competed at Afax Cardiff as our oldest pair ever of 151 years old combined age. And the only thing that we learned there, really, was that they were the MVPs, they generally had more people fangaling over them than Chandler and BKG and Lucy, all their things done and more. I think they got a little bit cocky about it as well. They came to finals, they were like rolled out on the red carpet and stuff. And then the second class, we had a lovely woman called Janet, and I love Janet as well, a little bit of bias as well because she's from Liverpool. But Janet, and at the time she was 74 years old, and she's had a few surgeries, a few injuries in her past, and at the time she couldn't squat with the barbell on her back, she needed to use straps to get the mobility there. And we worked on a few things in the session, she enjoyed it, she had a good time. She's got a lovely, amazing personality, so bubbly, and she just wanted more. And she signed up to Liverpool as an individual competitor, and she worked for 20 weeks with her coach David and her other coach Anna, who are the owners of CrossFit Sar ancestor. Worked for 20 weeks, came and competed at Affix Liverpool on her own, absolutely smashed it, and like could get the barbell back in the position because she worked on it, she was hitting depth. Some of the lifts, I was thinking, You were playing Cui when we done this takeover session, yeah. It was Kaiser Souza, yeah. But she loved it, she was running around the track, dancing every time she went past, and loved it, and she loved it so much so that now she signed up to Affix Birmingham, which is next weekend after Affix Copenhagen, as a pair with another woman who's in her early 70s and the absolute dream, and that's the other flip side, and we've got everything in between, man, and that's what Affix is generally all about.
SPEAKER_03I think that's cool. That's right down our lead to, to be honest. We love stuff like that, just you know, a little bit less than winning, but uh but we love it anyway.
SPEAKER_00No, but that's like that's the whole point of it is all is like like for me coming from um competitive powerlifting. People say like the competitive, but to me, what true competitive nature is is seeing where I come against the very best, even if I know I'm gonna come dead last, rather than avoiding it and only doing competitions I know I'm gonna win. That's not competitive. It's seeing how I do against everyone else, that doesn't make a difference to you, and that also gives you the goals and the fun of what competition is, and yeah, you're doing it for yourself, but we've all got a little bit of an ego, we've all got a little bit of a confidence, haven't you? You know, everyone's like when you're outside, you're like, No, no, I'm doing it for me. Then you get it there, exactly. And I know, I know from just life in general. Some of those older competitors, like just in life, when you see there, they're nice on the outsides, but you know, on the inside, yeah. Have you seen some people who are like, oh, they walk slow, and then when a bus comes, elbows up, you know? It's the same kind of thing. Uh Alina's laughing now, but I know she's that kind of thing.
SPEAKER_04We're the worst, we are the worst because when we go to competition, even though we are always on the same team, we will compete against each other. If he does 50 wall balls, I will do 51. And and so that's our way of competing.
SPEAKER_00Is that why you have terrible times of higher off then? Because you've done 101 wall polls and everyone else has run off. I have to do one.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. No, but but actually, we uh we did a podcast uh two episodes back or something with one of Denmark's ever best CrossFitters, and he's going to attend on Saturday actually in Pillar Center with with another great crossfitter. It will be uh kind of a good team. I can't.
SPEAKER_04His biggest concern is is is there enough plates for his back squad and deadlift?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Or can he borrow from the from the guy next to him?
SPEAKER_00So when you come into him, we have a set of every pair from 0.5 all the way up to 25 kilos on each bay, and you also have a 20 and a 15 kilo bar, and then we have stacks behind of 25 kilo spare plates. The only thing I ever say to athletes is if you have not got enough weight, it's not a weight problem, it's a loading problem. If you tell me if you've got a 15 kilo bar and you've got 10 fives either side, exactly, yeah, that's you. That's you, that's you, yeah. So I always recommend if you know you're gonna go somewhere, use the 25s on the insides for sure.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm he he'll do that, yeah. He's experienced, but but you know, we just made fun of it because sometimes, even though you you have these bumper plates, they're pretty wide. Oh, yeah. So even though you use 25s, you can only have four on each side, yeah, and that's not enough.
SPEAKER_00No, no, so so fortunately for us, we've got black box or our equipment partner, and that bonus has just slipped in my pocket there. Yeah, for sure. If I say black box three more times, I get a few more things. But no, black box are equipment partner, amazing quality equipment, and all the plates that we have are slightly thinner bumpers. So the 25 kilos are probably a good few centimetres smaller than a normal bumper plate that maybe you would see on an Olympic bar, and especially in normal gyms. Also, as well, what helps is they have this grip technology on the outsides, which you know the best of times, it's a nightmare when a bumper plate's stuck on the floor and you're trying to get it up, they have the little grip technique that helps you. Especially at 25, yeah, it's like it's been it's basically like thoroughs hammered in it. That's what it really is. There, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Do you lose your bonus if I say they are like lycoplates?
SPEAKER_00No, no, no. It's only if I say that I say no, they are much better. But no, yeah, yeah. So they're not the the biggest bumpers, they are slim lines for that reason. On the back squat, you could get 280 on there with still on you. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Okay, cool. No, but that's uh that's good information, and we will pass that on to him because he was quite concerned about that. If there if there were enough room on the bus, yeah, to take it.
SPEAKER_04But where did the whole idea started? I mean, back in the days.
SPEAKER_00So, funnily enough, the competition that was before Athens was called National Fitness Games. So, national fitness games, you've probably heard of turf games. No, we're from Denmark, you know. We don't use V chat though. Oh no, oh yeah, I realised that. That you still only use you are the country that keeps Facebook alive.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we got chairs, we got chairs in Facebook.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, clearly, that's that's that must be the thing that's keeping like we're not gonna saying WhatsApp three times in this program, are they?
SPEAKER_00I mean it's the same company, but like clearly use the only ones you use Messenger because that that was very jarring that that even kids uh kids are using it.
SPEAKER_04I mean it's behind the scene. It's been a big problem that
Når 70+ Atleter Stjæler Showet
SPEAKER_04the Danes don't use WhatsApp so much because all your information and communication and everything has been on WhatsApp and people we don't use so much people are like, Where's the information coming?
SPEAKER_03But but didn't you receive an email with the link to WhatsApp? And they were like, Oh yeah, we didn't press that because what is it? No, but but it is a fair concern going to to Denmark at least uh that that uh we we could have been uh more prepared for for us as well. But but uh you know we I won't say struggling, but but uh you know we are trying to get a a good team and volunteer team in Bellecenter, and it has been a bit hard to get the information out there.
SPEAKER_00No, it's it's what we'll do is we'll we'll say this bit and I'll go back to what we were talking about just a little before. We went off Messenger went off that completely there, you know. Look at that. We're we're clearly all getting paid by Meta. Now we've not said it, but no, I think the big thing for it when it comes to it is people like to see it first, and it's understandable. This is the first ever time it's been in Copenhagen and been in Denmark as a whole, and just in the Nordic. So people like to see what it is first, it's still an alien idea, and you know, words on a screen, words on a whiteboard, words definitely said in my accent a lot scarier than they actually are. So when people need to come and see it and get a feel for it and just see what it all is, especially with the amount of truth that's out there. So that's what it's up to us that. So that's what we're gonna do this weekend to show that well, you missed out on something amazing and something that will be a Walmart, a store mart, sorry, Walmart. Look, I mean I'm getting paid by all these American companies now. Um you you know that'll always be here and be a big part of the fitness community. So yeah, going back onto the question, yeah, the question, the idea. Yeah. Can't can't get the help here, can you for these presenters, can you? But but now this is my mysterious, just saying. No, she's just throwing she's throwing things in there to trip me up because she didn't like that I you know called her a nan instead. That's what it was. Yeah, it's on fair fair game. I picked the worst person to play chief. So I got chicken in there as well now.
SPEAKER_02So don't even try and do that.
SPEAKER_00Don't try to do not try and gaslight me into that. I know with the orange of what AFX is. So originally what we were was national fitness games first. So if we use an analogy before, Alan, about how we had Hyrux on one side, CrossFit on the other, and AFX slap bang in the middle. If we've got AFX there and CrossFit there, probably National Fitness Games is in the middle there, more going towards CrossFit. So maybe not as skill-based as CrossFit still, but you know, a full long day with different events going on, different zones.
SPEAKER_02So so the the IF3 functional fitness championships sort of sort of along that line, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Outdoors, you know, that kind of thing. Um the workouts would change each event, even if you go into different regions in the same season, kind of thing, and you'd have groups more so than individuals, and so on. Okay, understood. Yeah. Um and that was the first ever functional fitness competition outside of CrossFit in the UK. Um and then what happened was that our co-founder Mark Morgan, and then speaking to our other co-founder and performance director Ollie Marchon, we're just discussing and looking at the layer of land and realising that something needed to be different for fitness events in not only the UK but worldwide as well, especially during COVID, and we all remember how a bit of a nightmare that was. We do, yeah. Yeah, yeah, especially when you're trying to do those events and stuff like that. I mean, we we had to do a few outside of well, we all our events at the time were outside, but you know, you wanted to see something that was more sustainable, but also better for the fitness community and better for the gym goer, which is the most important thing. I done a community day march on HQ last year with Ollie March on the our performance director, and one thing he said that was perfect, and I'll always echo it, is that AFEX is built around gyms and coaches, and that's the whole purpose is to continue pushing that and the reasons for people to be in fitness, not just solely for the competition as well, but there's a many reasons and many goals people have for fitness, but it needs to be based around the fundamentals, and what I see affixes is kind of the cherry on the cake, whereas the gyms and coaches still get to be the cake, you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's the most important thing for it. But yeah, so after developing that and seeing that you know, people maybe can't have the time to do a full-day competition, or you know, these other things, and what would be the best experience for athletes and gym goers alike? That's where Affix has come out of then, and based around both the fitness standards that people need to have, that are the fundamentals, and also then the experience that people deserve and need. So, what we want here at AFX as well is no matter who you are, is that for your two and a half hours at the Affix event, you get to feel like a professional athlete because you deserve that, you know, that's a part of it, and it's a nice, a nice little cherry at the end of it all for when you've been training so hard and being part of it, and that's the big thing for us, and then outside of that, because let's be honest, the competition is only one percent of this whole thing, and even just competing in the competition alone is a small fraction of the actual event. The big part is the 99% of it is at the gym, yeah. And we want to make that yeah, that's where the community is, that's where your life is with it. You know, we we touch upon this a lot, but especially in the modern day, if you're working 40, 50, 60 hours a week, you've got a family at home or other responsibilities, and then you're training five to ten hours a week at a gym. The gym's now the new third space, it's the new social club, and people want more, and especially since COVID, um, and things have become a little bit more cold in a way. You know, people have spread out there's not a lot of community just because the way work is and stuff like that. People want that aspect more, don't they? They want something to be a part of, they want more of those communal things and being a part of more, and that's what big for AFX really is. That's huge. So, like, not only can they come and compete, which is what obviously we want people to do and be a part of and test themselves, but you know, they can come to the competition and volunteer, they can come and spectate, and all those parts are great to it, and then even if they don't come and do that, they can come and cheer on the friends at the gym when they do AFX simulation and AFX affiliate. Like, I know you're gonna run an amazing AFX simulation, yeah.
SPEAKER_03I think I think that that's cool because that's actually why we do it, and that's why we we picked ATHICs as as uh community builder, as a community, and and similar to CrossFit, and that's why we're affiliated as well, because we actually think you you hit a spot in the middle because we you know I I want to go back to some of the comparison just quickly, because we we're not a high-rex affiliated, and there's a reason for that. That that's uh a little bit too far away from our core business, which is CrossFit, yeah, and so so we decided not to go in that direction. And and when ATX came because it's it's not a skill-based, and you don't need the skill level, it basically everybody can attend, and that's what we needed you know, alongside our CrossFit business is something for everybody to attend the competitions. CrossFit, when you do that competition day, it's it's four or five workouts, it's an entire day, maybe a two-day competition, and so on. Not everybody uh wants to do that and and want to go in that direction with the skill level needed to do all these workouts. And the contrary, high rocks might be too low skill and and too much running. So so we believe that that you smack in the middle, as you said, you use the same template year after year, but you put in new things to make it exciting and and do something. CrossFit is all new every time you prepare for the known and unknowable every time, whereas Hyrox is doing the exact same year after year after year. It's so so you are dead bang in the middle, which we love and why we do it. And also, I like the format. You know, as I said, CrossFit is maybe one or two days, all day events. Hyrox is uh one hour, maybe, but no time cap.
SPEAKER_00You sign up, you do it wrap it on.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04I remember one hour and eighteen minutes or so.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but that's because you dragged us down.
SPEAKER_04He was such a bad runner.
SPEAKER_03I'm just saying
Plader, Standarder Og Konkurrenceego
SPEAKER_03that that it's a no-time cap, do it and go home. Whereas this hypermetly format ATX is doing where it's two and a half hours, you know, you you know you have to do this and a break. You know you have to do this and a break. It's just a format which works well and and we like it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, and I have to say, if you like the high of going on the we call it the battlefield, the competition floor, you have to be able to do so many things in CrossFit. And being able to go on a big event like Billicenter, I was attending World Fitness Project and they treated us so nicely, like really athletes, and the experience was so nice that we were talking about. I wish that we could give this experience to people who like to do competition, but don't want to train on butterfly pull-ups, handstand walk, uh, squat snatch, and so on. So I I I like the idea that as a community builder, you give people uh the opportunity to go to a competition by competing against yourself, by being a part of something big. Or if you don't want don't like to compete, you can be among a big group of volunteers. How many volunteers are going to be in the bill center? It's like a big group making things happen, yeah. And and I think that from my perspective, it's very important that you're a you're part of something big, and it can only happen because you're there for each other.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that I mean that's the most important thing for any of these, is is coming together uh uh as a people, as a community, and it's definitely what makes the event at the end of the day. That's the most important part. True. The rest is all bells and whistles, the lovely stuff, but it's the people that make it all. And as as cheesy as that sounds, but it is it's the truth of it about it all.
SPEAKER_04It's the the backbone of everything that that you can you can bring people together, you can be the person binding a big group saying, Hey, we're gonna try to solve this problem, and then you solve it. And and and we we love that feeling, and we love bringing people into that community.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and it's not to make anything sound like a fairy tale or anything, but it's to enlighten the listeners.
SPEAKER_00Well, if they don't know the difference between it's weird that I I've seen like random pigeons and cartoon stuff on there before.
SPEAKER_04It's my side of the office.
SPEAKER_00I think me maybe Lina's put something in my drink then around seeing things.
SPEAKER_03No, but I think it's it's just to to kind of explain to people what is ethics because it as you said, it's the first time in Denmark, it's it's pretty new, and uh and we need to enlighten people and and tell them why they should attend. Yeah. So I think uh actually I think we touched that.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, actually the first pair um uh signing the competition from Gimlis is our two ladies, Ebem and Jedder. Jedh is turning 60 next year. She's been on the competition for a few few times, but Ebem never done a competition like this. And and Jedder asked Ebon, she's in the 50s, do you want to go to Aethrix? Why not? And they've been training hard on the competition. So they really they even bought a pink t-shirt that Ellen had to bring Game Lee's CrossFit on it because they're representing yeah, you're getting a raise if you say three times more.
SPEAKER_03I'm just saying no, but um I think going back to Bella Cinder, just quickly because now we we touched the comparison and all this the competition is uh 15th of August, so it's this weekend. Yes, yeah. I I was just uh uh in you know curious to uh do you do you know the number of athletes? How how many we call a stadium? How how many athletes are you capable of of running through the system?
SPEAKER_00So uh in a normal event, it all depends on obviously the the arena. Sure. And like certain events this year we've expanded it, but our usual max capacity on average is 40 lanes. Now 40 lanes, and we can go bigger, so later this year we've expanded a few just because of demand. And for example, we've got extra lanes in Amsterdam, and it's gonna be a big event at the final chance to go to Lisbon, which is huge, and that arena allows for it. But for example, now in Copenhagen it is 40 lanes, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And and and you have a heat every every 30 minutes, every 30 minutes.
SPEAKER_00What we can look to around on the same day, you can easily go between I don't know, uh 680 to 800 entries. Now there'll be different variations of that where we have individual heats and stuff like that, but the main purpose for that, we're not looking for obviously to just try and ram as many people in because, like I said before, for the athlete experience is paramount to us, and having those lanes where people get to do it is they get their own individual experience as they go through, and that's the main thing for us. So with those 40 lanes, as you follow the event through it, you stay in your 40 lanes in your own little individual part, and you get that like kind of special feel for it because that's what's important to us. You no one's just a number, you are an Africa's athlete, that's the main thing, so yeah, it it depends widely on the arena, anywhere from between let's say 36, because some arenas have been there, just because they're narrow and a little bit like longer, but what we look for usually is 40, 40 lanes, and we have two big black box rigs. There we go, that's another one in the pocket there. Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah. Um and then we have the same for the the concept, the whole row was all set up there, and then we have the lovely lanes for the MetCon zone as well on that side, and then so you get to see it, and it is a great site as well.
SPEAKER_03But I think it's interesting because I I don't think people know the amount of work going into this, making this competition there with the volunteers and so on.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I think just when we do big competition, we do the Danish Championship in Functional Fitness and we do City Hall throwdown. We have 10 lanes, we have 10 lanes, and and and trying to get the amount of volunteers and the logistics and everything, it's a full-time job.
SPEAKER_03And now it's 40 lanes. So what are we looking into 150 uh volunteers?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, around that, yeah, because you've got to realize as well, we've not just got the judges, amazing to have those judges, and the judges that we have, generally a big part of it. Yeah, they're gonna be there to no rep you, especially if you're not kin to standards, you know. But also, before you get no rep, they are actually cheering you on. They want you to get the reps, they're part of it. They don't want to see anyone fail, they will happily fail you. Like, well, I will, I I know I will, and I know Alan Alan definitely will, but they're they're part of it and they they are there to embody what affix is, you know, cheering people on, being seeing people hit BBs, seeing people get involved, and also coach some people, especially if people are, you know, it's the first time they're a little bit nervous, or maybe they can see something different, you know, they're having a bad day, they're there to help out that part as well. But we also have other roles involved, so registration, you're met by lovely volunteers there when you come in and they're you know, showing you how to come in, where to go to first, you know, the first face, which is the the the a big part of it is well, how you greet them when you come in, when you see them.
SPEAKER_04They made a mistake because I'm in their task force.
SPEAKER_03The first face in front row, yeah.
SPEAKER_00How do you do a podcast? How do you do a podcast-only reception then? Just a voice, you know what I mean? Um no, they'll they'll be made of because that if we get to see it a face of Danish fitness, then that's a welcome thing anyway, especially for the people who who have doing all the competitions in in the fitness community already in Denmark. That's great to have, and that's what that's that's where it begins, doesn't it? It begins long before that, but on the day that's part of it, and then you've got you know, we've got bag drop, you know, lovely friendly faces there who they're taking your equipment, making sure they go through all your stuff as well to check it, see if you've got anything dodgy in there, maybe maybe steal some of your snacks as well, you know. If there's good ones, you know, you know, get some nice licorice in that. The English snacks are actually very good, yeah. Yeah, yeah, okay. But I do like a dime bar, I'll give you that one. Um, but then I think that's German actually.
SPEAKER_04Sorry, sorry.
SPEAKER_00We're co-opting it, we're co-opting it. What you did.
SPEAKER_04And I'm I'm the first face they're gonna speak to Vedo.
SPEAKER_00The the the diamond bar is the only one that could actually pronounce what's that one in the yellow wrapper? I think actually is a Danish bar. Oh shit. Oh begin with M.
SPEAKER_04Mabu,
Fra National Fitness Games Til Affix
SPEAKER_04yeah, is that Dan?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's chocolate.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know what you know, I love that. I love how he went, is that and you went, Yeah, that's chocolate. Oh, yeah, yeah, but clearly there's one state man named Alan. Yeah, that's chocolate. Thanks for that, Alan. I know the chocolate is chocolate. I should hope so. EU's got some very strict laws on food.
SPEAKER_04I would love to ask my chat GBT, my AI, but you told me you've been rejected by AI. Oh, yeah, I know.
SPEAKER_00I yeah, um I just think technology is not able to ha hack the Scouts accents. And by the way, this is me toning it down a lot. Trust me, like I feel I know, I know, I feel like I am talking through liquid licorice right now. That's how bad it is.
SPEAKER_02You were here for a class takeover, and afterwards people said we didn't understand he said.
SPEAKER_00Oh, don't don't believe that generally um when when you all come when you when you all come to to the events, pretty much any of the UK team there will very much admit that you all speak better English than me. We can't really deny it, can I?
SPEAKER_03We're gonna make a poll.
SPEAKER_00Oh, but it's not not the heart of the I know that who the hell hired you as a community manager then. The thing is though, that's that's because I I I put on a nice little smile, I'm a bit cheeky, and then people just go, Oh, we must be a lovely fella. I'm saying the most horrible things in the world, but you know, no, it's I think it's just maybe that's part of it. I'm very very, very much an emotive person, so that helps get away with it. And then they have to listen to what they say because I've said it four times, it's in the subconscious now.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, true.
SPEAKER_04So we came from chocolate. Oh, what's the colour? Yeah, so chocolate's only.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, so when you go into the city, no, no, we were talking about snacks. That's why I was a bit confused about the chocolate because for me that's not a snack, but oh, is that a dessert to you?
SPEAKER_00Well, you're counting it as a you counting that as a meal, Alan. Yeah, you count that are you counting that as pedimus?
SPEAKER_02The size of those parts?
SPEAKER_00Are you putting it down as like the as the food pediment? Like it goes like chocolate, then protein and then how it goes, then yeah. Yeah, it has got the fair though, the chocolate has got the main macronutrients, hasn't it, of taste? Yes, that is the most most important thing, innit? But yeah, calories in, calories out. That's uh how it works. I feel like it's a lot more calories in there than you know, it's more calories in wrappers out.
SPEAKER_03I'm just saying we're not body shaming on this. No, no, we're not, we're not.
SPEAKER_00We're very much not. That's the reason that's the reason why it's a podcast. Yeah, and not a video cast.
SPEAKER_04But normally we do a video cast, you can think about that.
SPEAKER_00Oh, you you should you should just you should see all the rappers that are on here, people on it's terrible. Alan's corner is disgraceful. There's a chocolate bar that's at best before 2019. Bear with me.
SPEAKER_04He actually has chocolate, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh no, no, he he's trying to pretend that's healthy there with the bare bells there, he's got protein in it. He's lying to us. But no, so you obviously have the the the bag drop team and you have people in warm-up, we've got athlete support, so the athlete support there are basically there to guide you, explain what's going on, show you around. So, basically, what we want it is that when you come to the event, the only thing you have to think about is your performance, and that's we have volunteers at all different levels to be part of the journey throughout it. And they these could be people you know who just love fitness, maybe they don't even train at any gym and they just want to be a part of something, or you know, members from your own gym who just really want to know rep their head coaches, which is you know, fair that's how I usually try and fight people to come and judge us. Like, remember that time they made you do 10 burpy tuck jumps? Well, your time to get them back like now, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03Okay, I think um now it's Thursday. We're sitting here talking shit. I almost said, but anyway, it's on Saturday. Um are we on track for Billy Center?
SPEAKER_00We are on track for Bellar Center, yeah. So we got our building. No panic, no panic, no way. No, no panic at all. Come on, no panic. We're used to this. I think if you're part of the events business anyway, this is what you live for, don't you? Yeah, this is what you live for, you know what I mean? And you know, Lena made a good point before we're like, you know, it's all like all panic because when you come to the event as well, it's just it's full on. The event week is full on, there's no way around it, and you're like, oh, and then afterwards at the end, you're knackered. Yeah, sorry, that that that's scouts for tired, knackered, very tired. Um you you've you're knackered, you know, but then you just sit there and you go, how boss is that? And especially when you start getting the feedback from people, yeah, exactly. And you know what I mean, people's weekends, even if like you, you know, you've probably nearly killed yourself four times, you know. We we know that yeah, yeah, you know, and but like that's just the best part about it, and you know, that's the impact it has, and then people have a great time. They come back, and especially the main thing that'll be here is this is our first time in Copenhagen. We have a great time, you know. There's a lot of activities on, you know. We we want to make each event have its own identity, especially around the culture of that city. You know, tomorrow we've got a lovely sauna set up for activation.
SPEAKER_04That's Finland, that's not Denmark.
SPEAKER_00Oh, well, sorry that we you know we couldn't just throw Danish pastries at everyone. Yeah, you know what I mean? We we didn't want to be on the nose, you know. We wanted to try, but you know, we tried. What's Danish culture for you?
SPEAKER_04Pastries and smarts, open face sandwiches.
SPEAKER_00I'm not gonna try and put that. I cannot I I I struggle saying sandwiches. Yeah, I'm not gonna try and say that. Smarled, yeah. I'm not trying to say that at all. You know what I mean? Um, but no, we do have all these different activations to be part of the community. We want to have our imprint and have people coming and joining. That's what we're doing tomorrow on Friday. Have you know some fun with that, and then the event itself, there'll be loads going on, and then what we want is that well, we've left the impact there, and people want affix, and we'll come back next year and we know what it'll be like next year.
SPEAKER_04So, how many people from the how do you say the headquarters are gonna join the event this weekend? The staff team.
SPEAKER_00Oh, the staff team is the original staff team. Oh, the original staff team. Oh, well, we've got the core, the core team is here. So, one thing that he's been doing each and every competition, but he did miss one. He did miss one, and I'll I'll always remind him that he missed one. Is actually no, he missed two. But to be fair, I'll let him offer one of them, but he missed two.
SPEAKER_03But think think about your race.
SPEAKER_00Mark Morgan, co founder, yeah, and our CEO. He's gonna be there, he's gonna be in every Every single event this year, and he's competing, well he's tried to compete at every single event at it, and that's that's a big part of it as well. Like one thing you will see from our core team right up from him is that one people will be competing in our team to get a feel for it, but also they'll be doing all the jobs. You'll probably good chance that if ever needed, or if he wants to, or if he can, you know, you might get judged by our CEO and co-founder, or he'll be going around, you know, picking you know rubbish up and stuff like that. You know, that's what it everyone chips in, that's what a big part of it. So, yeah, Mark will be here. We've got obviously Peter EU operations manager, we've got Barney, who's our logistics director, who basically will be doing everything as well, you know, and he he's got an affiliate, he'll be there judging, he'll be there making sure everything goes in the right place and comes back. We'll have our Donna, who's our athlete experienced operations manager. She'll be there making sure the scoring's going correct, but being a face there, we've got our affiliates team there, and obviously, then the main thing as well is that we want to build our Danish team up as you know, part of like obviously yourselves being part of the volunteers, but you know, the judging team, and then you get to mingle with us and we get to mix it because that's the whole point of that. Then you share ideas, maybe there's something that works better than Copenhagen that maybe wrong.
SPEAKER_04So when you when you go to the sauna tomorrow, yes, or the direction team, I was told to wear blue. I'm not a blue girl, I wear flowers. So bring on that message. Works better than Copenhagen.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. If you want if you if you wanna if you want to wear flowers, you wear flowers. No, I think that wasn't for the sauna. If you've been do you mean there's a blue t-shirt for the actual events, I think for the actual when you volunteer, yeah. If you show up at the actual events dressed of what you're meant to be wearing for the sauna, well, I don't I do not know how liberal Copenhagen is, okay? You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_04Actually, in our uh um podcast that we've done, we always talk about what do you call it, the winter? What do you call it when you um the winter?
SPEAKER_03That's cool.
SPEAKER_04Winter bathing, what do you call it?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah. So we it's a big part of our life that we do jump into the ocean every day. Cold plunge. Cold plunge, yeah. During um the whole winter. So we are sauna people.
SPEAKER_00I didn't realise I was on um daddies of a CEO, one of one of those kind of podcasts. Am I expecting to see like a Huel adverting here as well? And like, you know, all the blueprints of things you have to do, like to maximize your life and lifestyle. No, I didn't really I thought we were on a laid back podcast, yeah. But now now I'm getting
Frivillige, Logistik Og Atletoplevelse
SPEAKER_00sweaty.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm sweaty, I'm having that but that's not related to bathing.
SPEAKER_04No, that's relating to aging.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, don't come in on it. Let's say I I'll say it in English as well. Meni pause.
SPEAKER_04My glasses are steaming up because I'm I'm boiling English.
SPEAKER_00So so we've we've found out that Lena is the sauna for Friday. Yes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. She'll be sitting there all day making sure it's hot. Cool. I think we'll uh we'll skip that and go on.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03To the next question. I think uh we're looking forward to Pelican. Yeah, we are going there tomorrow, yeah, to see if everything is set up and you did a proper job, and then we'll be there on Saturday to make sure to pack.
SPEAKER_00Thanks for the vote voter confidence. Okay.
SPEAKER_04Well, I have I have to say, like the last time we did a competition was City Hall throwdown. Yeah. And two hours before, 300 athletes was going to join it. We didn't have any toilets. They closed the toilets. There was no power on the city hall. Electricity. Electricity.
SPEAKER_03Everything was gone.
SPEAKER_04Everything was gone. You couldn't even make a cup of coffee or anything. He was the guy fixing, in my opinion, because he's my best friend. He was the guy fixing everything. So when the shit goes down tomorrow, be calm. Alan is there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but I also just feel I also just feel like that that's because Alan was there that that all the toilets were closed. Yeah, it seems like he's a chocolate bar.
SPEAKER_02I feel like it's a jinx. That's what it is. He's a jinx. So shit hit the fence. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Literally. No, no.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so Bella Cinder.
SPEAKER_04You said Billicinder minute. Yeah, but that's do you get do you get any?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, and maybe a t-shirt. So no, but it just wanted to. Because uh we have been wondering the letters. What did it stand for? Nothing or is it just a name?
SPEAKER_00It's just a name. It's just a name.
SPEAKER_03So did you get it? Did you get that question many times?
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_00There's there's no hidden meaning to any of it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03No, I I wouldn't be able to remember it anyway. I'm just curious.
SPEAKER_00No, no, no, it just no, we just But what had that to do with Pilicenter?
SPEAKER_03That we just had to say Pilar finalized Pilar Cinder, Pilar Cinder.
SPEAKER_00Oh, there's no hidden meaning in Bellar Center either.
SPEAKER_03No, but it's because when Lena changes subject in her family, they they kind of bulker in the language. And and I didn't want to, it's a proper podcast.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, that's a good idea. So when you say Pilicinder, you change you changing too that's definitely what I got in from when we spoke about Lena's glasses steaming up. This was their own very much before the watershed podcasting. That's definitely what this you know professional. If anything, you know, it's too professional in here.
SPEAKER_03You know, that's that you know I can assure you, our listeners, they know quite a few things about Lena. Yeah, yeah, I can tell so classes steaming up is the least.
SPEAKER_04You know, it's a serious office. What is in front of me? What is my I have a statue in front of me.
SPEAKER_00Do you want me to be honest? Or do you want me to tell everyone?
SPEAKER_04Tell everyone what it is.
SPEAKER_00Well, if if you really want to know people, now a lot of the times as Lena is a judge, and you do have some athletes who like to maybe get their ass in between their ears. Well, they're putting it in. Yeah, they and they need to be told what is what, and you know, maybe to just calm down. Well, that is very much the the monument that that is here in the office.
SPEAKER_04I'll promise I'll put on a picture where you hold my statue and I put on the social media.
SPEAKER_00I don't know if I feel comfortable hold holding your statue on a photo there, Lina. You know, but yeah, okay, I'll go for it. Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_04Okay, Ellen. So Bella Central? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00No Bella Center, Bella Center, Bella Center. If you say Bella Center three times in the window, it comes and gets you in the bathroom. Oh shit.
SPEAKER_03No, now serious lean.
SPEAKER_04Okay, I'm serious.
SPEAKER_03Back to where we are going to. The plans going forward. Belacenta this weekend, rest of the year, A trix, 2027. Where are we going? Are you coming to Copenhagen?
SPEAKER_02Where are we going? Are you coming back?
SPEAKER_00So clearly, Alan's invited himself on a holiday here. Where are we going? So after this, I am going back to Liverpool. So Alan's invited himself round to Arms. Maybe with me.
SPEAKER_04But if you say Bella Center three times, one of you won't go to the house.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. So I'm going to make sure I say it next to Alan so he doesn't come, you know. I don't know if I can, you know, the amount of chocolate that he wants as well. You know, there's a do you know that there's a a crisis of prices at home? You know what I mean? No, but yeah, so after Bella Center, Africa's Copenhagen. We next weekend we have got AFX Birmingham, two-day event. It's a it's been a big foundational event that we've had in the UK for the past four seasons. It's a huge one, middle of the summer. Everyone from everyone in the UK comes and competes there. And then after that, we've got the rest of the year, just fun events. We've got Africa's Barcelona, Africa Marseille, Affix Liverpool, no bias there at all. No bias there. Best event at all, but you know, no bias at all there. Best best event. And then we've got kicking off our first string of full AFX events indoors in the US of A. So we've got AFX Miami, then the week after we've got AFX Houston, and on the same weekend as Affix Amsterdam on the 7th of November, we've got Affix Los Angeles as well. So that's gonna be an interesting flight, and it's gonna be kind of like where you have to get a Concorde and try and be in two places at once, you know. Maybe I have to say Bella Center three times and split myself in half. But then, yes, in 2027, we will be back in Copenhagen. We will be back in Copenhagen, and of course, we want to be back in Copenhagen, so it's up to us and up to obviously the Danish community.
SPEAKER_04Just leave us a messenger, a messenger, a messenger, yeah. Not a not a WhatsApp, no a messenger.
SPEAKER_00I'll have to re-download Facebook. Not even re-download, I'll have to download Facebook. Do you still have MySpace here as well?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but I think I think uh how how many competitions this year?
SPEAKER_00It is about 20. 20. 20, yeah. So we've we've uh we have exploded like compared to what it was last season. So last season originally we only had UK events, yeah. And then with how things took off, we done our first two EU events. So we had our first ever outside of the UK in Dublin, Ireland, and then the month after we done our first in mainland Europe in Berlin, and then got things rolling announced the 2026 calendar. I looked at that because I looked at it and I had no time to myself in 2025. And I looked at that calendar and I was like, I'm gonna have to get like some sort of magic to be there and that kind of thing, but you know, it it's been amazing, you know, going to these new places and and bringing Africs towards them and seeing you know that's the effect it's had on people and also them getting involved and being part of it and you know being able to add their own thing to a competition too. Sure. So yeah, we've we've we're looking at a lot more events next season. We've announced it. I think we've got 26 already just in the UK and Europe.
SPEAKER_03Because I heard within the next three years, I don't know if you heard, but I heard we're looking at 50 worldwide competitions.
SPEAKER_00I I heard where's Alan been listening to the yeah, yeah, gonna make sure all our laptops
Sauna, Kultur Og Holdet Fra HQ
SPEAKER_00are on books, yeah. The last time I came to uh Gimli Gimli is that my phone got microphones and books and stuff like that.
SPEAKER_03No, but I I I was just uh looking uh for you to confirm maybe that the goal is the goal, the goal is to to be as big as that, yes.
SPEAKER_00And so to that's every weekend.
SPEAKER_04Did you think about that? 50 events, it's almost every weekend, not Christmas, not New Year's Eve, every weekend. You're talking about not having time to yourself.
SPEAKER_00There's more people than me at that point. I hope, I hope, I hope, but no, no, the team's growing and we need to be in different places. And you know, we've we've got an amazing American team that are growing out there and and bringing AFX over there to to to the Americas, and that's gonna be a big hurdle there.
SPEAKER_04But you said we had a big medical team. I was like, medical team? What do we need? An American team, okay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we well, we now need a medical team for Lena as well. Her glasses are steaming up again.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, she you're thinking about medical team in uh shirtless, I'm sure.
SPEAKER_00Whatever float it's 2026, Lena. Whatever floats your boat, you you you do you girl. You do you girl, okay.
SPEAKER_03I uh actually I only have one question left in uh in my list, and that is for us, Lina, in November. Uh Gimli's Aeth Rex Game Simulation.
SPEAKER_04In November, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. We are looking to do our own because now we'll see this weekend how we go along, and then we will our own, exactly. Gimlies will top that, I'm sure.
SPEAKER_00Oh, this is as an affiliate, this is how you're gonna as the affiliate, we're gonna do better than the competition. Okay, that's I I'm all for the fighting talk.
SPEAKER_03Just saying, wait and see. Look at our all our trophies.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, I can see it, yeah. And also all the chocolate bar rappers as well, you know. Um, but no, yeah, that that's a big part of what the affiliation is, uh, our affix here is what we want as as gyms to to be part of their community, especially within their cities and within AFX, AFX official simulations that only AFX official affiliates can run. We want you to do that, and we want to bring it that because you know there's people who who maybe missed out on AFX Copenhagen, or you know, they came and volunteered. Oh, they're excited about AFX Copenhagen 2027, and they need to have a little uh taste of that beforehand and get used to the movements and get used to the competition feel. That's a big part of it, and and what we see the AFX official simulations to be is the best way possible to prepare for an AFX Games Day, for sure. So that's the best way to do it, and that's what it's the way it should be. Because I know you will, is you'll hold it to the very same standards as if it is Bella Center.
SPEAKER_04It's good we have thin Elico plates, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh, there no, see, it'd be even better if you had microscopically thin black box plates, you know. Oh, there were three times. Yeah, yeah, exactly. That'd be perfect for you if you had all of them instead. That's the that's the best way to go about it. But yeah, no, it that'd be the best thing to see. I I'd love to see Kim Lean's Affix official simulation in November ready for the 2027 season, so that then everyone who comes into Copenhagen can come and be part of that simulation ready for Affix Copenhagen 2027. Just make sure when when you step into the front door that you step over Alan's chocolate wrappers, you know what I mean? It's a long time till November, and there's a big space here, so that's that's plenty of chocolate wrappers there.
SPEAKER_04You need a big fan and a cooling room, yeah. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_00Well, you you won't in November because it'd be cold enough. You will be the heater for everyone in in November, Lena. That's the that's the main thing. So do not bring a jacket in November. Lena will keep everyone roasting.
SPEAKER_03At least we are roasting in here. Oh, it really is.
SPEAKER_00Honest to God. Dripping in here now.
Kalender, Vækst Og Simulation I November
SPEAKER_03No, but you heard it here first. Gimli's Mastercast will have a Gimli's A Trix game simulation in November. Do you want to have the date? No, no, save the date. Oh, save the date. They can't if you don't say it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they definitely have save November. Yeah, come, yeah, block out all of November. Do you want to go to the Christmas mark? No, you cannot. Because there's a good chance Lena is booked there.
SPEAKER_04Because save in Danish, you say I meant so hit the hit the date. I was just saying hide the date. Hide the date.
SPEAKER_03Don't dig anymore.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you're making it worse. But if you if your kids have got a birthday in November, nope, can't have it. Because there's a good chance Lena's planning all of the simul all November's every day in November. Some people say there's a conspiracy theory that life is a simulation. Well, November will be African African simulation in Gimli's the whole of November.
SPEAKER_04I mean, if you say Bella Center three times, November will disappear.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it definitely will, yeah. Well, that's the thing. Now Gimli's has become the Bella Center. That's what it is, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's next step. So uh I think my list is exhausted, and so am I, to be honest. But uh I think it has been very nice to have you here, Jordan, and uh in light full Gordon McLachlan.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you're getting better there, not not too bad, you know. I can stop calling you Visa now.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, then you have to say my surname, Risper.
SPEAKER_00Lispa. Oh close, close enough, close enough. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I can give you that one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, my uh clearly, clearly, as well, my Danish is better than my English, so that's that's not it's a low bar, it's a low bar. I give you that like no, but no, it's it it's always a pleasure to come to any of our affiliates, especially in new regions, especially on the eve of a competition. All I can say is genuinely, you know, for people who love a community, love training, or they don't even have to love training, you know, they know they just want to do training, and you know, everyone has different goals, you know. Some people want to come and compete and you know, be competitive against the best of the best. Some people maybe just want to be able to do the things they enjoy in life into old age. You know, Alan wants to be able to go through chocolate bars, some people want to be able to go to the past, yeah, and still, you know what I mean. And some people want maybe you just want to be able to pick up the kids or grandkids and stuff like that. You know, there's different goals for different reasons, and that doesn't mean they can't become part of a class, and that's what the main thing of the Africa's classes are as well at these affiliates, is it's your little central hub of the community, of the wider community that you can you know end up having your boss mates forever that you'll maybe see once a year, or you come to finals and you get to catch up with them, you know, and all that kind of thing. So I think if you can find an affiliate like Gimli's Cross, or if you can find Gimli's Cross, that's the most important thing. Just in you know, in November and December, look for the only place that doesn't have snow on its roof and chocolate bars outside, then you found it, that's the perfect place. But these kind of hubs they're well worth going to train at because it means you get to do like-minded people, have a great time, and then fitness just isn't a chore, then. And I don't think fitness ever is a chore, but you know, we all have ups and downs, and if you find a great community, and that's what AFX is all about, then you'll keep on doing it and keep on pushing it and keep on having fun, no matter what. Or come to an affiliate like Gimli's Cross, or come to Gimli's Cross, like I've just said, then you get yourself involved in more and more things. That's the main thing for it. That's what Affix is all about. So, and then you know, come and purchase all the black box equipment, come and purchase all the Adidas equipment, come and get, you know, shut him down, shut him down. Shut him down. Oh, we got the main sponsor there, we got we've got it all in there, but no, just to slide that in. That's weird that you know Alan's now sliding me a few notes just to say Gimli's cross again. That's weird, but yeah, no, if you've not come to an AFX before, and you obviously you great to volunteer or compete and that's amazing. But if not, just come and watch it, come and be a spectator. If you can't make it this weekend, then that's completely fine. You know, there's plenty of events this year, but also go to a simulation, come to all of November at Gimli's Cross, come to the simulation, get a feel for it, get yourself ready for it. Because 99% of AFX is outside the event, and you'll want to come to AFX once you come to the right gym. That's the main thing I can ever say through years.
SPEAKER_03That was the final words, Jordan. Thank you so much for coming and taking your time here. I know it's a busy weekend for you, but uh, thank you so much.
SPEAKER_04Thank you.
SPEAKER_00Thank you for having me.
